Subscription & Connection Support

Frequently Asked Questions & Connection Troubleshooting

Find answers by the issue you’re facing, from accounts and clients to routes and orders. If you need further help, include the error and steps you’ve tried in a dashboard support ticket.

Account & subscriptions

Check your account and configuration first, then move on to setting up another device. Your subscription link is used to import the service into a client, so keep it as secure as your account credentials.

Do I need an email address to create an account?

No email address is required. Create an account with a username and password. Choose a username you can keep track of, and use a password that you don’t use on other sites. Save your credentials in a trusted password manager. Because there’s no email address on the account, don’t rely on email recovery as your default option, and make sure you know your credentials before switching devices. Check your account, orders, and subscription in the user dashboard. If you have trouble accessing it, use the link on this site and avoid entering your login details on pages from unknown sources.

Do I need to choose a new plan when I switch devices?

There’s no device limit, so changing devices alone doesn’t mean you need a different plan. PaoVPN supports Windows / macOS / iOS / Android / Linux. On your new device, open the user dashboard, get the appropriate client, and import your account subscription. For non-iOS clients, sign in to access the download; check the dashboard for current iOS access requirements. After importing, check your plan status and remaining data. Unlimited devices does not mean each device has its own data allowance or that data is unlimited, so keep an eye on the usage shown in your account.

How do I import a subscription link and refresh the route list?

Open Account Overview in the user dashboard, find the subscription section, and copy the link. In your client, choose the option to import a subscription from a link. If you already have a subscription, use the update or refresh option in that configuration’s menu. Check the route list after the update completes; there’s no need to repeatedly create configurations with the same name. If retrieval fails, check that you copied the full link, that you can access your account, and that your current network can retrieve the subscription. Treat your subscription link as sensitive account information: don’t post it publicly or include it in screenshots of an issue.

What should I do on my old devices after a subscription link changes?

If the subscription link in the dashboard has changed, copy the current link from Account Overview. On each device, edit the existing subscription URL in the client, then update it. Refreshing a configuration that still has the old URL won’t replace the link. After updating, check that the region list loads and try connecting again. Once the new configuration works, remove duplicate or outdated configurations. If you think the link was exposed, check the dashboard for a reset option. If you can’t find one, open a support ticket. Don’t send the full link through public channels.

Connections & troubleshooting

Check your local network, client routing, and target app separately. Identify where the problem occurs before changing permissions, routing rules, or routes.

The client says it’s connected, but websites won’t load. What should I do?

A connected status usually means the client has established a connection; it doesn’t guarantee that the full connection to a website is working. Disconnect and check that your local network can reach everyday websites. Then reconnect and test another route. Check that the system proxy or VPN permission is enabled, close other proxy tools that may also be controlling network traffic, and make sure the client is using the configuration you just updated. If only one website fails, note its name, the selected region, and the error. If no websites load, start by checking permissions, your local network, and the client configuration.

Why does my browser work through the proxy, but a particular app doesn’t?

A browser and an app may use different network paths. Some apps don’t follow the system proxy, or the client’s routing rules may send them directly. Check whether the app appears on a proxy bypass or excluded-app list, then check whether the client is using rule-based routing or a mode that handles all system traffic. If available, switch modes temporarily to compare, then restore your usual settings. Reopen the app to test; refreshing only the browser won’t tell you whether the app works. The app’s account region, server-side policies, and network implementation can also affect the result, so this alone doesn’t indicate a route problem.

What should I check if the connection drops in the background or when the screen locks?

First check whether your system restricts the client’s background activity and whether its VPN or network extension permissions are still enabled. On Android, check battery optimization, background activity, and auto-start settings. On desktop systems, check sleep settings, network changes, and how security software handles network extensions. Reconnect after making changes and see whether the connection still drops when you lock the screen or switch apps. Settings names vary by system, so follow the options shown on your device. Don’t disable all system protections as a troubleshooting step. If the issue continues, include your system, the action that triggers the drop, and the client’s message in a support ticket.

What information should I include in a support ticket if troubleshooting doesn’t help?

Open a ticket from the user dashboard. Include your platform, the client’s message, the selected route region, the affected app or website, and whether the issue occurs before or after connecting. Add your local network type, whether you recently switched networks, whether other routes work, and the steps you’ve already tried. This helps narrow down the cause. Before attaching screenshots, hide account details, sensitive order information, and subscription links. Check logs for sensitive information before sharing them, too. Include the exact error message rather than just saying it doesn’t work. For ongoing issues, add updates to the original ticket.

Speed & routes

Choose routes based on how they work with the apps you use. Region, route type, and your local network all affect performance; one label can’t tell you how every service will work.

Video buffers during peak hours. How can I tell whether to switch routes or check my local network?

On the same device and local network, try other routes to access the same content and see whether the buffering changes. If performance is similar across routes, check your Wi-Fi signal, background downloads, cloud syncing, and network use by other devices. If possible, compare with a wired connection or another trusted network. If the problem only occurs on one route, use another available route and tell support when it happened and which service was affected. Change one thing at a time so you can identify the cause instead of switching devices, networks, and apps all at once.

Which regions are covered? Is choosing the closest route enough?

PaoVPN covers 110+ countries / 160+ routes. The options available to you depend on the current subscription list in your account. You can start with a route near the target service’s region, then adjust based on how it performs. Distance alone doesn’t determine your experience: your local carrier’s routing, cross-border links, and the target service’s own status all play a part. When comparing routes in the same app, keep other conditions as consistent as possible. For services tied to an account region or content library, check the platform’s rules first; a route in a particular region doesn’t guarantee access to all content there.

How should I choose between IEPL, relay, and direct routes?

These terms describe how a route is organized, not how fast it will be every time you use it. IEPL refers to a dedicated link; a relay route uses an intermediate node, while a direct route uses a direct connection path. Choose from the route labels available in your client, then test the apps you need rather than judging by the name alone. If one type doesn’t connect well on your network, compare it with another. Route labels can’t replace testing the specific service you want to use, and don’t guarantee consistent speeds or content availability.

If an AI tool or streaming service won’t open, will switching to its region definitely fix it?

Not necessarily. Route region is only one factor. AI tools and streaming services may also check account region, sign-in status, payment details, content rights, and their own server policies. First check that the service is working, then review any account messages and regional requirements. Next, select an appropriate region in the client and test again. After switching, reopen the app or start a new browsing session rather than continuing with an old connection. Quantum encryption is part of this service’s security messaging; it doesn’t change third-party account policies. If the problem persists, share the exact error so support can distinguish a network issue from a platform issue.

Billing & refunds

Check your billing method, then confirm your order status. Monthly plans and permanent data packages have different data rules. Handle order and refund questions through a support ticket in the dashboard.

How much do monthly plans and permanent data packages cost, and which should I choose?

Monthly plans: ¥9.9/month for 60GB · ¥18/month for 250GB · ¥28/month for 500GB. Data packages: ¥158/300GB · ¥358/1000GB · ¥658/3000GB. Data lasts until used and never expires. Choose a monthly plan if you use the service regularly and want a monthly allowance. If your usage is less predictable, consider a data package. Think about your actual usage, especially video, file transfers, and cloud syncing. Support for multiple devices doesn’t mean unlimited data. See the plans page for full pricing and billing details, and confirm your specific order in the user dashboard.

When does data reset, and how is a mid-cycle upgrade calculated?

Monthly plan data resets each month on the activation date. For a mid-cycle upgrade, the price difference is prorated over the remaining days. Don’t assume data resets on the first day of a calendar month, or that an upgrade restarts a full usage period. Check your plan status and order details in the user dashboard before making changes. Permanent data packages last until used and never expire, so the monthly reset rules don’t apply. If the client and dashboard show different usage, first make sure you’re viewing the same account and current plan, then refresh the page. If you still have questions about the charge, keep your order details and contact support through a ticket.

Which payment methods are supported, and what if my payment status doesn’t update?

WeChat Pay / Alipay / USDT are supported. Create and check your order in the user dashboard, then pay using the method shown at checkout. For USDT, carefully verify the payment details and network requirements shown on the page; don’t reuse details from an old order. If you’ve paid but the status hasn’t updated, check whether the order is still processing, keep your payment confirmation, and refresh the order page. Don’t pay again just because the status hasn’t synced yet. If the issue persists, open a ticket with the order ID, payment method, and a redacted payment confirmation. Don’t share complete transaction details on a public page.

What is the refund policy, and how do I request a refund?

PaoVPN offers a 30-day no-questions-asked refund. To request one, open a ticket from the user dashboard, say that you’d like a refund, and include the relevant order ID and necessary payment information. Check the refund policy and terms of service for details before submitting. You don’t need to finish troubleshooting a connection issue before making a request, and public discussion forums aren’t the place to handle orders. If account verification or payment checks are needed, add the requested information to the existing ticket. Don’t send your account password or subscription link. Track progress through your ticket and order status; no additional processing time is promised on this page.
